Project: Bamboo Pavilion + Community Garden Exhibit
Year: April 2023
Location: IE Creativity Center, Segovia, Spain

This exhibit encompasses a set of drawings, prototypes, and models produced to explore the intricacies of a bamboo pavilion to be built on the Segovia campus of IE University. It is a student design-build project, under the umbrella of the Urban Ecology Initiative, led by two faculty from the IE School of Architecture and Design, Cem Kayatekin and Dinithi Iddawela.

The project forms part of a broader “urban farm” project for the Segovia campus funded and supported by the IE Sustainability Office and the IE Foundation, aimed at eliminating biodegradable waste on campus.

A sincere thanks to the IE Sustainability Office and the IE Foundation, Isabela De Alcazar Benjumea, Nicole Rosow, David Goodman, Martha Thorne, Marcela Aragüez, the continued help and support of Gerardo de Santos Calvo and Tania Pozo Sanoja from the Facilities Department, the support and patience of Maxon Higbee and Maria Elena Cardiel Garcia of the FabLab, the generous consultation given by Vinc(e) Math, Miguel Gomez Navarro, Alessandro Mattoccia, and Alejandra Albuerne, and of course all the students who have worked on this portion of the project over the past two years (arranged alphabetically): Saina Abdollahzadeh, Carlos Codert, Hannah Demeyere, Sofia Diaz, Jon Durand, Nadine Fahmy, Catarina Gill de Barros, Sophia Kluijfhout, Maria Belen Romero, Ana Victoria Sanchez, Arianna Sze Ai Chow, Hatem Tarhini, and Cecilia Wilhelmy.
